2021 – The number of confirmed corona cases worldwide increases to more than 100 million, according to data from the US University of Johns Hopkins. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 2.1 million have died.

1976 – The University Framework Act comes into force in Germany. It is the first cross-state higher education law in the Federal Republic of Germany for studying, teaching and study reform.

1956 – In Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, West German and GDR athletes compete as a joint German team at the Winter Olympics for the first time.



1926 – John Logie Baird publicly presents his telescreen, a mechanical-technical forerunner of the television, in London for the first time.

1911 – Richard Strauss’s opera “Der Rosenkavalier” premieres in Dresden.
