Jakarta –
Indonesia’s MSME sector is still facing serious challenges. Bank Indonesia (BI) noted three challenges that hinder the difficulty of MSMEs advancing to class, from credit realization to readiness to penetrate international markets.
Quoted from the official Instagram post @bank_indonesia, the realization of MSME credit has decreased by 0.64% on an annual basis until November 2025. In terms of management, there are only 39.4% of MSMEs that have implemented a digital system. Apart from that, the export readiness of MSMEs is still limited, both in terms of production, management and market access.
“In their journey, many MSMEs want to grow further, but are hampered by basic things, #SobatRupiah. Starting from financial records that are not neat, business data that has not been organized, to payment systems that are not yet optimal. Realizing this, Bank Indonesia has an effective strategy so that MSMEs can move up in class and continue to #GiveMeaning to the sustainability of our economy,” said Bank Indonesia in its upload, quoted on Sunday (18/1/2026).

“Bank Indonesia is here to assist MSMEs so that they grow more competitive, impactful and sustainable,” he said.
BI has established a number of strategies to attract consumers, such as market intelligence, trade curation and promotion, synergy with stakeholders, and holding business matching sales.
Apart from that, BI also has a strategy to encourage MSMEs, such as standardizing and certifying products, utilizing digital platforms, accessing banking financing, and synergizing with ministries and institutions.
“Strong MSMEs are the pillars of a sustainable economy. Bank Indonesia continues to encourage strengthening MSMEs so that they have an increasingly strong business ecosystem,” he concluded.
