Europe Climate Action: Do More Now?

by Archynetys World Desk

Environmental protection, sustainability, transition. This and much more was discussed at the event “Green Heroes: the Europe of possible sustainability” presented to the European Parliament and organized by the PD MEP Annalisa Corrado. «Bringing the stories of the Green Heroes here to the European Chamber, i.e. citizens and companies who have chosen to invest in sustainability, means demonstrating that the ecological transition is not a promise, but an economic reality already underway, made up of companies that innovate, grow and create value», underlined Corrado.

greenreport.it is also part of the Italian “Green heroes”. More: in February 2024 it became the first newspaper to be included in the prestigious list that includes the best experiences of the Italian green economy, on which since 2019 the famous actor Alessandro Gassmann has chosen to shine a spotlight – together with the scientific support of the environmentalist association Kyoto club, and Annalisa Corrado in particular – to enhance the good examples of the ecological transition. As he later explained in more detail in an interview with our newspaper.

And Gassman was among the guests of the event yesterday, together with the vice-president of the EU Commission for the Ecological Transition Teresa Ribera, the head of the PD delegation Nicola Zingaretti and many others interested in the Green Heroes project promoted by the non-profit organization Kyoto Club.

«There are people like the ‘green heroes’ who have understood the right path to take: entrepreneurs and researchers must look at the circular economy as an investment. It is important to guarantee our food security and also the competitiveness of the EU”, highlighted Ribera. While Gassmann explained that he has been mobilizing on the issue of the environment for several years because «it is a duty as a citizen and a person followed on social media to tell what our society is doing to fight climate change, giving voice to the stories of the green heroes who work successfully on the sustainable economy». “What is needed now is the political courage to transform this momentum into a long-term European industrial success story,” underlined Letizia Magaldi, president of Kyoto Club.

Gassmann explained, among other things, in an interview with Agi: «Ecological issues in particular and the defense of our ecosystem are central to me as a citizen. The meeting I had many years ago with Annalisa Corrado, who today represents our country here in Parliament, was fundamental. I was looking for someone who would give me the opportunity to use my fame on an issue that was very close to my heart and the Green Heroes project was born with the help of the Kyoto Club of Rome.” The actor also launched a message addressed to the EU leaders: «In my opinion, Europe can and must do more, but not just Europe. I began to deal with this when my son was born, I began to think about the end, no longer about the end of my life on this planet, but about the end of the life of my son who is 27, because those are the generations that will suffer the most from climate change and what man has brought to our ecosystem. I think more needs to be done.”
