Outaouais Murder: 2 Men Charged in 2023 Disappearance

The murder of a man whose body was found in a wooded Outaouais region in 2023 could finally be solved: two individuals have been charged with first degree murder.

Stéphane Lévesque, 44, and Éric Chénier, 47, were arrested Wednesday by the Sûreté du Québec. They are accused of the premeditated murder of Patrick Gagnon, as well as insulting his corpse.

The 45-year-old victim was reported missing on October 31, 2023 in Kazabazua, in Outaouais. His body was found in a wooded area in Gracefield, a few kilometers further north, a week later.

The police confirmed to TVA Nouvelles that he was the victim of a murder in March 2024. The motive is still unknown.

The accused have extensive criminal records. Over the years, Éric Chénier found himself behind bars several times for cases related to drugs, firearms and violence. He is awaiting trial on charges of cannabis and gun possession.

Stéphane Lévesque has a history of break-ins, death threats, theft and various break-ins.
