Kim Sang-wook (37, HL Anyang), a living legend in Korean ice hockey, set a new record for the most points in Asian League ice hockey history and set a new milestone on the ice.

Kim Sang-wook added one goal in the 28th home game of the 2025-2026 Asia League Ice Hockey Regular League against Red Eagles Hokkaido held at Anyang HL Ice Rink on the 11th, achieving a total of 573 points (154 goals, 419 assists). As a result, Kim Sang-wook became the player with the most points in league history, surpassing the previous record of 572 points (227 goals, 345 assists) held by Japan’s Daisuke Obara (retired).

This is a great record achieved 15 years and 1 month after debut in December 2010.

Kim Sang-wook, who started as a first-line center that day, scored an additional goal that decided the game at 15 minutes and 9 seconds of the second period when the team was ahead 1-0.

When Kim Gun-woo connected the puck behind the goal with a return pass, Kim Sang-wook hit the net with a powerful one-timer snapshot from the right side of the goal crease.

Just as valuable as setting records is his ‘consistency.’

Even in his late 30s, Kim Sang-wook still shows off his league-leading skills.

After winning his second Most Valuable Player (MVP) title last season, he is leading the point category with 39 points (16 goals, 23 assists) in 28 games this season.

After the game, Kim Sang-wook said, “I was determined to win in order to end the losing streak in the first home game of the new year. I was able to set a record thanks to the manager and coaches who guided me and my teammates who helped me.”

HL Anyang defeated the Red Eagles 2-1 thanks to Kim Sang-wook’s winning goal. With this win, HL Anyang maintained second place in the league with 59 points (20 wins, 8 losses) and will begin a four-game road trip to Japan starting on the 24th.
