Microsoft launches Copilot Plus PC and proposes the end of work without intelligent agents
Notipress.- During one of the sessions of the CES 2026 in vegasMicrosoft revealed its new bet to accelerate digital transformation in companies: personal devices with artificial intelligence executed locally. Under the title Unlocking AI Transformation: From Devices to Culturethe conference held this January 8, 2026 brought together leaders of Microsoft, T-Mobile, Lumen y 7-Eleven. During the conversation, to which NotiPress had access, the impact of the AI in productivity and the new user profiles in the work environment.
One of the central announcements was the introduction of Copilot Plus PCa category of devices with neural processing unit (NPU) that allows you to run models IA directly from the device. “We have created a category called Copilot Plus PC, a device with NPU that allows AI to be run at the endpoint, without depending exclusively on the cloud,” he explained. Sandra Andrewsglobal director of Surface at Microsoft.
Through this hybrid architecturethe teams promise not only greater autonomybut tangible improvements in the processing speed and security. Andrews highlighted that it is the “fastest and most intelligent device created by Microsoft”, with more than 22 hours of active battery life and the ability to run complete language models.
From the telecommunications field, Giao Duongvice president of employee technology at T-Mobile, shared that the company is in early phases of AI hardware adoption. This is due to long device renewal cycles, Duong explained. However, they already integrate solutions such as Enterprise GPT and transactional bots in human resources and IT. “Our next step is to democratize the creation of agents within the company, with low-code and pro-code solutions,” Duong said.
For its part, Ryan Asdouriandirector of strategy and marketing at Lumen, pointed out that its connectivity network is adapting to the exponential growth in data generation. According to internal estimates, its sales team saved $50 million in 2025 by using AI-based tools to prepare meetings and generate reports in real time.
Furthermore, from the retail sector, Jennifer Goschkesenior vice president of shared services at 7-Eleven, called on embrace AI thoughtfully: «We must first think about which interactions to preserve as human before automating processes. Not all problems require a technological solution.
In line with this vision, Andrews concluded that the future of work will be marked by a “fluency in the use of AI”in which digital agents will be part of the work organization chart and will act as permanent assistants in the daily operation. In this context, Microsoft proposes a device-based strategy as a way to accelerate this transition, by integrating hybrid capabilities between the edge and the cloud.
