Eduardo Bolsonaro: Response to Federal Police & Clerk Position Dispute

Former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) responded to the Federal Police’s request that he return to work as a clerk for the corporation, after having his mandate revoked by the Chamber’s Board of Directors at the end of last year. Eduardo published a video on social media in which he states “there is no way to return to Brazil now”, suggesting alleged persecution of figures such as Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), but states that he intends to fight for the position.

— I will stand firm. I will not hand over my position at the PF, I will fight for it, because I know that I am a person who fought to be approved in this competition. I know they want to take my retirement from the Federal Police, because I contribute to the PF and do not contribute to the retirement as a federal deputy, as well as my possession of weapons and my Glock pistol, which is emblazoned with the PF to this day — said the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, on social media.

Eduardo Bolsonaro justifies the “lack of conditions” to return to Brazil citing the case of his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro, who remains imprisoned at the PF Superintendency in the Federal District, despite having health problems. Eduardo Bolsonaro has been in the United States since February and is the target of STF inquiries investigating his alleged involvement in sanctions against Brazil, such as the tariff imposed by the United States government in July last year.

In the message he released along with the video, Eduardo Bolsonaro reinforces the tone of a supposed democratic abnormality in the country, with persecution from authorities, and states that he did not give up his parliamentary privileges to “subject himself to the whims of the sycophants of tyrants, who head the Federal Police”.

“Let the Gestapo do whatever it wants with my public examination, I would never exchange my honor for a job in the public bureaucracy”, he wrote.

PF determined return to function

Eduardo Bolsonaro was removed from his role as PF clerk to act as a federal deputy, however, with the loss of his parliamentary mandate decreed by the Chamber, the PF ordered immediate return him to the function. The act was published this Friday (2) in the Official Gazette of the Union. Eduardo was approved in a public competition for the corporation in 2010.
