Florida Gators Football 2024: A Harsher Schedule Than Expected?

There’s a notion that Florida’s football schedule might be easier next season due to the departure of several key quarterbacks. However, that view doesn’t hold water given the caliber of quarterbacks they will square off against.

The Florida Gators are set to face the top three favorites for the Heisman Trophy, all of whom are quarterbacks, as well as additional strong contenders and a few notable underdogs. Let’s delve into who exactly they’ll face this upcoming season.

1. Arch Manning

Per ESPN Bet, Manning is considered the top Heisman Trophy favorite. Whether he’s overhyped or genuinely that good, it remains to be seen. Florida faces this prospect in a home game on October 4.

2. Garrett Nussmeier

This USC quarterback could pose a significant threat to the Gators. Florida last faced Nussmeier, and though they emerged victorious, this match will occur October 13 at Death Valley, USC’s home stadium.

3. Nico Iamaleava

Tennessee’s quarterback, Nico Iamaleava, could be formidable if he masters the finer points of throwing the ball. Florida won’t face him until the second-to-last game of the season, which could be a tense matchups.

4. Cade Klubnik

While Klubnik is a solid college quarterback for Clemson, I doubt he’ll be a Heisman Trophy candidate. He’ll face the Gators earlier in the season, making this the first of many challenges.

5. Drew Allar

Allar has a chance to claim the trophy, but that would require securing a significant win. Namely, James Franklin and Penn State would need to come out on top in crucial games.

Darkhorse Contenders

Carson Beck, now at Miami, Marcel Reed at Texas A&M, and Gunnar Stockton in Georgia are worth noting. However, all these matchups will occur away from Gainesville, adding a layer of difficulty for the Gators.
