Corona (also: COVID-19) remains one of the most common respiratory diseases. The infectious disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2Virus caused and can lead to fever, cough and difficulty breathing. There were 115 new corona cases in Berlin last week. At 12.2, the highest 7-day corona incidence can be found in the age group over 80. Across all age groups, the Corona 7-day incidence in Berlin is currently 3.1 per 100,000 inhabitants (as of December 29, 2025). Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,475,525 laboratory-confirmed corona cases have been reported in Berlin.

Flu in Berlin: 570 new influenza cases

Acute respiratory diseases and flu-like illnesses in eastern Germany
In addition to the spread of the “real” flu (influenza), the development of regional case numbers for acute respiratory diseases and flu-like illnesses is also being closely monitored. The estimated weekly incidence of acute respiratory diseases in the Greater East Region, which includes Berlin, is 10,900 per 100,000 inhabitants for the 50th calendar week. Small children, especially premature babies, and older adults are particularly at risk of severe disease. There were no new RSV cases in Berlin in the 52nd calendar week. The RSV incidence here is currently 0 laboratory-confirmed RSV cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The highest RSV incidence of the current year was reached in Berlin in calendar week 09/2025, when 231 new RSV cases were registered within one week. This corresponds to an RSV incidence of 6.15 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
