Dresden Farm Fire: Children’s & Youth Farm Affected

Dresden – Major fire on Christmas Eve Dresden: In the Weißig district, a barn complex was on fire in the evening.

The “Spielwiese” children’s and youth farm on Weißiger Hauptstrasse was affected.

As the fire department announced, they were alerted around 7:10 p.m. A total of 148 emergency services were deployed.

When we arrived on site, the barn was already fully engulfed in flames.

There was also a lot of smoke, so a message was issued via the warning apps: All residents should keep windows and doors closed.

The fire brigade immediately began extinguishing the fire, while at the same time numerous Animals had to be evacuated. Some animals had already fled the flames and had to be caught again.

Some steel pipes were used to fight the fire to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring buildings.

The fire was brought under control and the all-clear was given around 10 p.m. Nevertheless, the fire brigade then carried out further remaining work on site.

Due to the extent of the fire, this remaining work still took some time. The emergency services expected to be finished around noon on Christmas Day.

The burned straw and the remains of the fire were examined. It is still unclear why exactly the fire broke out.

The “playground” commented on Instagram that night and spoke of a “shock”. At least all the farm animals were saved.
