Car Crashes Into Shop Front in Limerick City Leaving Locals Stunned

Local shoppers in Limerick city witnessed a shocking incident on Wednesday afternoon when a car crashed violently through the front of a busy store, coming to a stop in the middle of the shop floor.

Gardaí were swiftly on scene following the single-vehicle accident, which occurred around 4:50 PM on Father Russell Road.

Luckily, no one was injured in the chaotic event.

“Gardaí attended the scene of a single-vehicle road traffic incident on Father Russell Road in Limerick city today, Wednesday 29th January 2025,” reported a Garda spokesperson.

“The incident occurred at around 4:50pm. There were no reports of injuries,” they added.

A widely shared video of the incident shows the vehicle mired in the middle of the shop floor, with knocked display stands and cards scattered around it.

Remarkably, bouquets of fresh flowers in the store managed to remain intact amidst the chaos.

Gardaí can be seen outside the premises, speaking to members of the public who were on the scene.

The cause of the accident is uncertain. However, one local resident speculated that the driver might have inadvertently started the car without realizing it was in gear, losing control of the vehicle as it began to move.

“Thankfully, nobody was injured but it was an awful shock for anyone to get,” the resident noted.
