– The Governor participated in the signing of the Communal Property Decree for the Ódami people
Governor Maru Campos called on the three levels of Government to transcend differences, join forces and coordinate for the benefit of the native peoples of the mountain region of Chihuahua.
Within the framework of the signing of the Communal Property Decree for the Ódami people, which took place in the community of Santa Tulita, Guadalupe and Calvo, the president accompanied the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, in the continuity of the actions that are part of the Justice Plan for the Peoples of the Sierra Tarahumara.
During her speech, the president said that during her administration there was a historic increase in investment, to guarantee support in housing, health and nutrition.
The above with the objective of strengthening public policies that dignify and improve the quality of life of the Rarámuri, Pima, Ódami, GuarijÃo, Tepehuana ethnic groups, among others.
“Our job is to do justice to the communities. High-level politics is the one that knows how to agree on the essentials, today we are here because we share a deep conviction: The historical backwardness that the indigenous peoples have suffered, particularly in the Sierra,” said Maru Campos.
“Today, with this signing of land restitution, it is clear that we are walking in the same direction: Justice, dignity and recognition for the indigenous peoples. Our culture is rich and diverse and we must encourage each other, holding hands and transcend all differences to move forward together,” he added.
For this reason, together with the head of the Federal Executive and local indigenous authorities, he signed the agreement that restores to the communities the lands that rightfully belong to them.
He also committed to accompanying the actions and initiatives that were proposed during the meeting by the representatives of the indigenous peoples, to address the most pressing needs they currently face.
President Claudia Sheinbaum recognized the progress that the entity has made in terms of social care.
“Governor, thank you very much for receiving us. We are once again in the Sierra to deliver lands, it is about giving you what was always yours to do territorial justice,” he expressed.
The event was attended by members of the state and federal cabinets, legislators and residents of several towns in the municipality of Guadalupe y Calvo.
