Grieving Community Marks the Passing of Noel Carr: A Life Celebrated in Love

Salthill and No.1 Cross Street

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, the community of Salthill bid farewell to a kind, humble, and gentle soul—Noel Carr. The beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at home.

Noel’s journey on earth ended at the tender age of 87, following the loss of his parents Roderick and Eileen earlier in his life. His wife of 62 years, Bernie, will deeply miss his presence. His cherished children—Ann Marie, Nicola, Yvonne, and Roderick—will carry his memory with them, along with his lawful grandchildren.

Family accounts reveal Noel cherished his time with his sons-in-law Paul, David, and Mark, and daughter-in-law Nuala. He was adored by his granddaughters and grandsons: Orla, Dara, and Niall, Cian, Conor, and Ciara, Sophie, and Rebecca, as well as Seán and Aoife. Noel’s warm connections extended beyond his immediate family; his cousins and great friends remained close to his heart. His best friend and cousin, Barry Cahill, stood by him through many joyful and challenging times. The Carr and Durkin extended families also held him in high regard.

“May his kind, humble, and gentle soul soar forevermore above you, Galway Bay”
