While filming her scene in the massive Turkish Gambit, Nikita Mikhalkov himself – the man with the Oscars, awards and more power than half of Russian cinema – calls her aside and declares: “I like you. I want to work together.” He even offers her a six-month stay to make her his star.
Alex… refuses him. No haggling. Without hesitation. “I’m a second-year student at NATFIZ. I can’t,” she tells him. Today, he claims he has no regrets, even though a chance like this only comes once. And although it is clear: if she had left, her life would have been different – probably much more global, much more scandalous and much more glamorous.
However, Sirchadzhieva has another front on which she does not compromise – the false “stardom” in our country. She cuts him like a razor: “What have you done in your life besides show yourself naked or become famous for who you slept with?” According to her, home television gives birth to “stars” with an expiration date – they quickly fade away as soon as the new reality show spits out the next batch.
She warns that this fake world of filters, busts and the Maldives is dangerous for young people. “They live in an unreality. When faced with problems, they don’t know how to react.” He also remembers the words of his mother, Pepa Nikolova: if you decide that you have caught God by the wheel, it is over.
Alex is also blunt about “new age love.” “You can’t at 18 want someone to buy you a car and watch. Love isn’t someone to buy you a car and put tits on you.”
