Michigan State football’s planned roster departures continue.

Sophomore safety Justin Denson announced via social media on Wednesday he’s planning on entering the portal. He posted 15 tackles in 11 games over two seasons with the Spartans.

Denson is the eighth Michigan State player, including two walk-ons, who has declared their intention to transfer since coach Jonathan Smith was fired after the end of his second season and Pat Fitzgerald was hired as his replacement. The group includes leading rusher Makhi Frazier and top receiver Nick Marsh and Denson is the third defensive back headed to the portal.

A former three-star recruit and Rhode Island native, Denson appeared in eight games as a true freshman in 2024. He played the first three games this season but didn’t get on the field after that.
