In badminton, the Vietnamese women’s team reached the quarterfinals of the team competition against Malaysia. Six players, including Bui Bich Phuong, Nguyen Thuy Linh, Pham Thi Dieu Ly, Pham Thi Khanh, Tran Thi Phuong Thuy and Vu Thi Trang, will represent Vietnam in this crucial match.
According to the format, the two teams play a total of five games (three singles, two doubles); the team that wins three games first advances to the semifinals.
The game will take place at 10 a.m. at the Thammasat University Sports Hall in Pathum Thani Province (Thailand). It is considered a big challenge as Malaysia has long been a strong opponent for Vietnam in badminton in the region.
In baseball, the Vietnamese men’s team will face the Laotian team at 10 a.m. at the Pathum Thani Sports Complex stadium.
After an impressive 5-2 win over Malaysia on December 6, coach Park Hyo Chul and his team are in good spirits and aiming for another win to strengthen their chances of reaching the bronze medal. This is their first victory in 14 years, since the 2011 Southeast Asian Games.
Seven teams will meet in the SEA Games 33 men’s baseball tournament: Laos, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines.
The teams will compete against each other in a round-robin tournament from the beginning of December. The four teams with the best results will then be selected to advance to the medal round on December 13th and 14th at the Huamark Indoor Stadium (Bangkok).
In today’s competition, both teams will bear the expectations of their fans while also having the chance to further improve their performances at the SEA Games in Thailand.
