Omar Khairat: Health Update – ICU Transfer

Yesterday, Egyptian musician Omar Khairat suffered an emergency health crisis that required him to be transferred to the hospital to receive treatment.
A source close to Khairat revealed that he suffers from shortness of breath and low levels of oxygen in the blood, after suffering from a severe cold that led to serious complications.
The source also added that upon his arrival at a private hospital in Cairo, he underwent medical examinations and tests, and the doctors ordered him to enter the intensive care room for careful observation until his condition improved.
While the treating medical team recommended that he remain in the hospital during the coming period and not make any effort to avoid deterioration of his condition. Accordingly, the management of musician Omar Khairat decided to cancel all of his upcoming artistic engagements until his health condition improves.
Omar Ali Mahmoud Khairat was born on November 11, 1947 in the Sayyida Zeinab neighborhood in Cairo to an educated family that loved the arts. His uncle Abu Bakr Khairat, the most famous architect and founder of the Egyptian Conservatory, enriched the Egyptian music library with symphonic works.
While Khairat’s relationship with the piano began at the conservatory in his first class in 1959, where he studied playing under the Italian professor “Caro,” in addition to his study of musical theory.
He then moved on to study music composition at Trinity College in London, completing the features of his independent musical personality as a professional composer who formulates his own musical visions with distinctive musical sentences characterized by depth, richness, and flow.
He appeared to the public for the first time through the soundtrack of the film “The Night of Fatima’s Arrest” in 1983.
