After eight years of beta testing got Escape from Tarkov finally its official launch this week. At the same time, the shooter came to Steam, where the reception has been miserable.
User reviews for Escape from Tarkov are mostly negative. Only 30 percent of the over 10,000 players who have left feedback have given the game a thumbs up.
For many, it has simply been impossible to play. Developer Battlestate Games requires you to create an account to play, but the website has been down for the count since launch.
Others get through, but are stuck in endless queues. At the same time, the clock counts down on Steam, where the possibility of getting a refund is closed after two hours.
– Almost four hours have passed with attempts to log in. This is not a gaming experience. This is hell, writes one player.
Battlestate boss Bikita Buyanov have acknowledged the problems. Via social media, he wrote that the game was moved to new servers to be ready for the launch, but that the entire system was overloaded.
Buyanov points out that there is no excuse, and that the team is working to put things in order.
Escape from Tarkov emerged as the king of so-called extraction shooters back in 2017. While the developer has been mulling its way towards launch, plenty of competitors have emerged. The newest of these, Arc Raidersis doing very well with already four million sold in two weeks.
