South Korea seems to no longer want to focus on electric motors, and is developing a diametrically opposite situation. Let’s find out, in detail, the novelty that is in the production phase.
The spread of electric vehicles globally continues to slow down, and only China has managed to build a real business on this much-discussed technology. Electric cars are unable to enter the hearts of citizensand the situation is becoming increasingly complex and worrying for the manufacturers who have invested in this direction.

In recent months, even in South Korea there has been a sharp decline in sales of electric carsa general decline that is generating considerable concern among the leaders of the brands and also in political offices, who were strongly focusing on BEVs to impose their idea of sustainable mobility. Let’s discover a possible alternative that is already causing discussion and which could completely wipe out electric motors.
Korea, the ammonia engine for the future arrives
According to what is reported on the website “eldiario24.com“, South Korea is developing a 2-liter ammonia-fueled enginedeveloped for the occasion by Korea Institute of Machinery & Materialscollaborating with two car manufacturers. It is based on a high-pressure ammonia fuel cycle, using a fuel combustor. It appears to be able to provide energy without problems and without using carbon-based fuels.

HD Hyundai Heavy industries is also working on another solution, i.e. a dual fuel engine based on high pressure ammonia and direct injectiongenerating energy for marine and land transport. In this way, it will be possible to move ships and means of transport without causing polluting emissions, but not with electrical systems. Ammonia will be the main fuel, and it is a solution that already exists Toyota had announced last year, without however developing a specific model with this power supply.
