7% Health Charge Removal: Pensioner Guide

by Archynetys News Desk

The elimination of the 7% discount on health has established itself as one of the most relevant benefits for older people, by freeing certain pensioners from the obligation to contribute that percentage to Fonasa or an Isapre. This measure seeks to increase the liquid amount they receive month by month, without having to carry out application procedures.

The benefit is applied automatically and is reflected directly in the pension payment settlement, as long as the conditions established by the pension system and detailed by ChileAtiende are met.

Is it necessary to carry out a procedure to eliminate the 7% discount?

No. The reduction is not eligible and is activated automatically when the person meets the required requirements. However, if the discount continues to appear in the pension payment, there is the possibility of making an inquiry.

To do this, the pensioner can go in person to a ChileAtiende office with their identity card. The online review option is also available through ClaveÚnica through the enabled digital channels.

Who can access the 7% health removal

The benefit is aimed mainly at pensioners who receive any of the following contributions from the State: Basic Solidarity Pension for Disability, Solidarity Pension for Old Age, Solidarity Pension for Disability or the Universal Guaranteed Pension (PGU).

In the specific case of those who receive the PGU, it is also required that they belong to up to 80% of the most vulnerable of the population, according to the targeting instrument used by the Pension System.

What happens to those who are not pensioners from the solidarity system?

There are situations in which people who do not receive solidarity pensions can also access this exemption. This applies, for example, to those who are affiliated with an AFP, an insurance company or a former social security fund; to pensioners under the work accident law in mutual societies or in the Occupational Safety Institute; and to those who receive a pension linked to the law for the reparation of politically exonerated persons.

In these cases, it is necessary to integrate a family group located in the fourth most vulnerable quintile, which is equivalent to having a Pension Targeting Score equal to or less than 1,876 points. calculation carried out by the Social Security Institute. In addition, a residence in Chile of at least 20 years must be proven, whether continuous or discontinuous, considering that the last four years prior to the application must be uninterrupted.
