A Splash of Fresh Color for the MT-10
Yamaha Motor has unveiled the 2025 iterations of its popular MT-10 ABS and the higher-spec MT-10 SP ABS in the Japanese market. While the core engineering and pricing remain consistent, the spotlight shines on a revitalized color palette designed to invigorate these potent naked motorcycles.
Introducing “Light Opaque Gray”: A new Aesthetic Across the MT Range
The most notable addition is the striking “Light Opaque Gray” livery, a blend of subtle light gray contrasted with vibrant blue accents. This new color scheme will extend across the entire MT family, from the entry-level 125cc models to the top-of-the-line 1000cc MT-10.Consequently, the existing dark gray option will be discontinued. The standard MT-10 will now be available in three distinct colors: Blue, Opaque Dark Gray, and the newly introduced Opaque Light Gray.
According to recent motorcycle industry reports, color and styling are key factors influencing purchasing decisions, with nearly 60% of buyers citing aesthetics as a primary consideration. Yamaha’s move to refresh the MT-10’s color options aligns with this trend, aiming to capture a broader audience.
The MT-10 SP Retains its Exclusive Argento Livery
In contrast, the MT-10 SP maintains its refined appearance, continuing with the exclusive Argento livery. This color scheme combines black and metallic silver, offering a premium and refined aesthetic.
Launch Dates Confirmed for May 2025
Enthusiasts eager to get their hands on the new models won’t have to wait long. The MT-10 SP is slated to arrive at Japanese dealerships first,on Friday,May 16,2025. The standard MT-10 will follow two weeks later, on Friday, May 30, 2025.
Under the Skin: Proven Performance and Advanced Technology
While the visual appeal has been enhanced,the performance and technical specifications remain unchanged from the previous model year. The MT-10 continues to be powered by a 997cc inline four-cylinder,water-cooled engine derived from the legendary YZF-R1. This powerplant delivers a formidable 166 PS at 11,500 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm, known for its exhilarating acceleration and responsive control.
The 2022 update brought notable advancements, including a redesigned front fascia, a sophisticated 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), and a suite of rider aids. These include lean-sensitive traction control, slide control (SCS), and lift control (LIF), enhancing both performance and safety.
The SP variant further distinguishes itself with Öhlins semi-active suspension, offering superior handling and ride quality. It also features unique fairing elements and distinctive graphics,setting it apart from the standard model.
