Recently, the northward migration of wild Asian elephant herds in Yunnan has attracted much attention. As of May 30, the elephant group had entered the Hongta District of Yuxi City after passing through Mojiang County of Pu’er City, Yuanjiang County of Yuxi City, Shiping County of Honghe Prefecture, and Eshan County of Yuxi City, causing serious problems to the lives of the people passing by. And economic losses.
After the incident, the Yunnan branch of CPIC Property & Casualty actively coordinated with the forestry and grassland departments to prepare an emergency plan for the statistics of the losses caused by the wild elephants after the relocation of the wild elephants. Once losses occur, they will be compensated as soon as possible.
Since 2011, China Pacific Insurance Property & Casualty Insurance Yunnan Branch has been committed to wildlife protection. It has underwritten public liability insurance for wildlife accidents in Pu’er for ten consecutive years, and has paid a total of 129 million yuan for losses caused by national protected animals, including wild elephants. The loss accounted for as high as 91%.
Since the wild elephant herd that moved northward entered the Pu’er area, China Pacific Insurance Property & Casualty Insurance Yunnan Branch has paid close attention to it, and has closely connected with the local government, forestry and grassland departments and other relevant institutions through monitoring elephant herd activities, setting up electronic fences, and on-site publicity and training. Effective measures such as feeding and feeding food have greatly reduced the losses caused by wild elephants in Pu’er area, and effectively helped the government to protect wild animals, and jointly create a good environment for “human and wild elephants to live in harmony”!
