Investing in Tomorrow’s Abruzzo: A New Generation of Political Engagement
More than fifty young individuals from across Abruzzo are participating in an intensive political training school organized by the Young Democrats of Abruzzo. This initiative, which commenced on Saturday, May 3rd, and continues through Sunday, May 4th, is being held in the Favetta room of the Museum of the Genti d’Abruzzo in Pescara. The program, dubbed “Irami of Knowledge,” aims to equip young people with the tools and insights necessary to actively contribute to the region’s political landscape.
The opening conference featured prominent figures such as Saverio Gileno, the regional secretary of Young Democrats, Daniele Marinelli, the secretary of the Democratic Party of Abruzzo, and Marwa Mahmoud, head of political training in the national secretariat of the Democratic Party. Their presence underscores the importance of investing in the next generation of political leaders.
Curriculum Focused on Key Issues: From Youth Policies to European Integration
The training school’s curriculum is designed to cover a wide range of critical issues, including youth policies, university funding, civil rights, and political participation. Participants will engage with institutional guests and experts to gain a deeper understanding of these topics. The program culminates in a public meeting featuring nicola Zingaretti, a Member of the European Parliament and a leading figure in the Democratic Party of the European Parliament.
This comprehensive approach reflects a growing recognition of the need to engage young people in shaping policy decisions. According to a recent study by the European Youth Forum, young people’s participation in political processes is crucial for ensuring democratic accountability and responsiveness to their needs.
Saverio Gileno, secretary of GD, and giorgio Marcucci, a board member, emphasized the importance of the school in shaping the future of Abruzzo. Building the Abruzzo of the future passes from formation, reflection and comparison. In this way the commitment of young democrats continues for a new region’s idea,
they stated. They highlighted the unique opportunity for growth and political formation, emphasizing the desire of the new democratic generation to be protagonists of change and growth.
The school represents for us a unique opportunity for growth, comparison and political formation, as a new democratic generation we want to be the protagonists of change and a strong growth, which helps us to gain skills that serve to Italy and its territories and to make use of the experiences of the generations before us. the comparison is the best way to build a shared path in which all have a voice and can cultivate projects and objectives. Learn a lot, treasured the goals and even errors.
Saverio Gileno and Giorgio Marcucci, Young Democrats of Abruzzo
The emphasis on learning from both successes and failures underscores the importance of critical thinking and adaptability in the ever-evolving political landscape.
Reconciling Action with In-Depth Study: A Call for Informed Political Engagement
Daniele Marinelli, the regional secretary of the Democratic Party of Abruzzo, stressed the need to balance daily political action with a capacity for in-depth study and reflection. In a time of political clash, even at high intensity, it is indeed necessary to reconcile daily political action with a study and deepening capacity on the individual issues we face and on the past and cultural categories of our political community,
Marinelli noted.
I am happy that this initiative started from our young people, because now more than ever we have to do things with them and not for them. After a long period in which we have dismantled places and principals, physicists, political and cultural, the training school is one of the tools we have to stimulate and strengthen the participation, militancy, the sense of belonging and care of our community and it is right to start from those who have a wider horizon. And to the Training Department of the Democratic Party, which is working to structure a long training project that helps us to build a better future for all and all.
Daniele Marinelli, Democratic Party of Abruzzo
Marinelli’s remarks highlight a broader trend in contemporary politics, where informed decision-making and critical analysis are increasingly vital for effective leadership.
