Yangpyeong-gun has once again demonstrated its strength in regional sports, securing 13th place overall and second place in its division at the recent 15th Gyeonggi-do Disabled Sports Competition. This achievement underscores the region’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and competitive sporting habitat.

A Diverse Team Showcases Talent Across Multiple Disciplines

A contingent of 111 athletes representing Yangpyeong-gun participated in the competition. The team, comprised of 71 athletes, 28 officials, and 12 guardians, competed across ten different sports, including gateball, billiards, badminton, bowling, weightlifting, track and field, boccia, table tennis, park golf, and e-sports. This broad participation highlights the diverse athletic talent within the region.

Notably, the e-sports team secured frist place, marking a important achievement and signaling Yangpyeong-gun’s potential in the burgeoning field of digital sports. This victory reflects the growing recognition of e-sports as a legitimate and competitive sporting activity, mirroring the global trend where e-sports viewership and participation continue to surge. According to recent statistics, the global e-sports market is projected to reach over $1.6 billion in revenue by 2025, with a significant portion attributed to mobile gaming and competitive leagues.

The park golf team also achieved notable success, securing third place overall and winning a gold medal in a group event. The team’s performance was particularly praised for its demonstration of solidarity across different age groups and genders, highlighting the inclusive nature of the sport and the strong community spirit within the Yangpyeong-gun team.
