The director of the ATM will be looking for a second in command who is an expert on maritime issues

The new Director of the Maritime Transport Authority (ATM), Mara Pérez Torres, will be looking for a second person who is responsible for an expert on maritime affairs.

This was stated this morning by Anthony Maceira, secretary of public affairs at La Fortaleza, in a radio interview (WKAQ – 580 AM).

"Yesterday (Wednesday) we met with Mrs. Pérez and in essence she will bring a second, that she will have maritime experience, so that he can take the lead or do the immediate work to repair the small things that can be solved in two weeks, in a month or two months and that they can concentrate on what the long-term transformation is that will be achieved by of public-private cooperation, "said the official.

Pérez Torres was appointed governor Ricardo Rosselló after his predecessor, Juan Maldonado de Jesús, resigned yesterday, because last Friday he gave permission to rent a boat through the ATM to transport materials to a wedding in Vieques.

She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida, a degree in law from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Ponce and a master's in Corporate, Banking and Financial Law from the Fordham University School of Law in New York.

Maceira stressed that Perez Torres had been instructed to give his immediate priority to the operation of the boats that provide the island community with the Ceiba Islands for Holy Week from April.

Although he did not mention his salary, the official said that Maldonado de Jesús charged $ 96,000 annually.
