Comedy Winterhuder Fährhaus

In the mid -19th century, a house was built between Hudtwalckerstrasse and Winterhuder Kai – nothing unusual, you should think. But it quickly became a place of encounter. The Winterhuder Fährhaus only served as a tavern for the guests of the Alster steamer, a little later it developed into a lively dance restaurant. Especially during the golden twenties, rushing festivals shaped the interiors. Regardless of the name: a ferry house was never the building, but the place definitely had many facets. The district residents were all the more sad when the building looked in the eye in 1979 after a devastating fire from the demolition bulb. But the site got a second chance: the comedy Winterhuder Fährhaus has been standing there since 1988. To date, the traditional theater with wine -red armchairs invites you to sink into charming comedies. The guests can be found in one place where history and community remain alive.

Goldbekhaus

A lively meeting point in the heart of Winterhude for over 40 years: the Goldbekhaus. Hardly any other place in the district offers such a diverse program. This ranges from comedy and music events to courses and workshops. Sports and flea markets also take place. It doesn’t matter whether young or old – the door from the Goldbekhaus is open to everyone. With its varied offers, the cultural center on the channel of the same name is a place of encounter and creative exchange. Already in the early 1980s, committed winter horsers founded the cultural center with the motto to strengthen social interaction in the district. Even today, many projects are created directly from the quarter.

Magazin film art theater

The magazine film art theater is a house with history. A cinema has been located at the location since 1936. After the Winterhuder Lichtspiele was closed, the magazine film art theater moved to the rooms of the building, which celebrates its 100th birthday this year. As a classic program cinema, it makes a lovingly selected game plan. For the most part it consists of biopics, documentation and dramas. Again and again events such as readings, concerts and events for children are also held. A coffee gossip takes place twice a week in which the audience can consume sweet pastry and coffee during the cinema performance. Until 2013, all old school with film roles operated, the cinema hall has now been equipped with modern digital technology. The magazine film art theater deliberately dispenses with the installation of 3D technology and thus retains its unique, nostalgic charm.

Alma Hoppe’s comedy house stands for political cabaret, ingenious satire and entertaining comedy. Last year the private theater celebrated its 30th anniversary. The cabaret artists Jan-Peter Petersen and Nils Loenicker, also known as the cabaret duo “Alma Hoppe”, opened it in March 1994. Today the theater is run by Jan-Peter Petersen and his son Max Beiers. There are both own productions and guest artists on stage. Before the theater built in 1927 became Alma Hoppe’s Lusty House, it had various functions. During their lifetime, Wolfgang Borchert, Hans Albers and Heinz Erhardt performed there. Later the building served as a community center, cinema, sample stage and painting hall. Today the “Who’s Who” of the German cabaret and comedy scene is on stage.
