CONCERT ON THE DAY OF DEFENDERS OF UKRAINE

On Saturday, October 15, the opening of the military-patriotic action “With a song to Victory” will take place in the City Garden. As part of the action, a concert dedicated to the Day of Defenders and Defenders of Ukraine and the Day of Ukrainian Cossacks will be held in the Rotunda. Musical works performed by the brass band of the Odessa Municipal Theater named after Alexander Salik and soloists of the Odessa Regional Philharmonic named after David Oistrakh will sound from the stage.

The event will be held with the support of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Odessa City Council. Start at 17:00. Free admission.

EVENING OF MUSIC IN TANGO STYLE

Another Saturday event will be an evening of tango music. The Black Sea Orchestra will give a concert in Kirch. Program: Libertango, Oblivion, Blue Tango, Escolaso, Escualo, Por Una Cabeza, Alla Tango.

The evening starts at 17:00. Part of the proceeds will be used to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine and activities to support the Kirkha building. More information about the evening can be found by phone: +38 063 50 72 964.

BIG TASTING OF UKRAINIAN CRAFT WINES IN THE CATACOMBS

On October 15, Odessa residents and guests of the city are invited to a tasting of Ukrainian wines from three Odessa craft winemakers: MANZUL WINEHOUSE, WINE VALLEY and PAN BILETSKYI. In the program: a short tour of the catacombs and a tasting of 15 wines (ten dry and five sweet). Baguette, crackers and grissini will be served as an appetizer for wines. Each participant will receive a glass goblet as a gift, and will also be able to communicate with the authors of the wines. All tasting wines will be available for purchase at the producer’s price.

The tasting will start at 16:00 and will last three hours. The cost of participation is 700 hryvnia. The number of participants is limited, so the place must be booked in advance by phone or via Viber: +38 050 46 24 199.

PIANO CONCERT ON DEFENDERS’ DAY

On Saturday, the Odessa Reformed Church (Pasteur Street, 62) will host a piano concert dedicated to the Day of Defenders and Defenders of Ukraine. The audience will hear works by Lev Revutsky, Alexander Krasotov, Frederic Chopin, Claude Debussy, Miroslav Skorik, Yuriy Znatokov and Dave Brubeck performed by Honored Artists of Ukraine Tatiana Shevchenko and Lilia Shevchenko.

The concert starts at 16:00. Entrance – 100 hryvnia, entrance for pensioners – 50 hryvnia. Part of the proceeds will be directed to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

DAYS OF MEMORY OF EMIL GILELS

From October 14 to October 19 at the Music School No. 1 (Mayakovsky Lane, 4) the days of memory of the outstanding composer of the 20th century Emil Gilels are held. As part of the days of memory, it is planned to hold various events dedicated to the centennial anniversary of the school: concerts, master classes, lectures and excursions.

On October 15, Doctor of Arts, Professor of the Odessa National Music Academy named after Alla Nezhdanova Daria Androsova will give a lecture on the theme “Traditions of clavier playing in the pianism of Emil Gilels”. Lecture starts at 12:00.

ORGAN MUSIC CONCERT

The Odessa Opera House also prepared a festive event for the Day of Defenders of Ukraine. So, on October 15, the concert “Voice of Victory” will take place at the Odessa Opera House. Visitors will enjoy a grandiose performance with organ music, vocals and virtuoso sound of instrumental works accompanied by an organ. In the first half of the evening, works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Handel, Felix Mendelssohn, Giuseppe Giordani, Giulio Caccini and Luigi Luzzi will be performed, while the second part of the concert will be dedicated to folk songs and music by Ukrainian composers Dmitry Bortnyansky, Igor Sonevitsky, Mykola Balema, Valery Kvasnevsky, Nikolay Lysenko and Georgy Mayboroda.

The concert starts at 16:00. The cost of tickets is from 100 to 400 hryvnia.

AMERICAN JAZZ ON THE BALCONY

On October 15 at 14:00 under the balconies of the jazz club “Perron No. 7” the Trio of Yakov Tsvetinsky with the participation of Vadim Bessarab and Vitaly Fesenko will perform.

Yakov Tsvetinsky is one of the contemporary voices of the Ukrainian jazz scene, a graduate of the prestigious West Michigan University and a participant in numerous international jazz festivals. In his trumpet style, he combines the influence of Chet Baker’s lyrics, Clark Terry’s sense of movement, the sound of Tomasz Stank and the unpredictability of Kenny Wheeler.

During the concert, the musicians will delight the audience with the live sound of American jazz.

The proceeds will be directed to the technical support of the air defense of Odessa.

PERFORMANCE “Pollyanna”

On Sunday, October 16, the Theater for Young Spectators will show a performance based on the novel by Eleanor Porter “Pollyanna”.

Eleven-year-old girl Pollyanna, after the death of her father, remains an orphan and moves to live with her aunt, Miss Polly. The world in which Miss Polly lives is full of strict rules and prohibitions. An ordinary child in such an environment, perhaps, would have had a hard time, but Pollyanna is helped to cope with difficulties by playing with joy …

The performance starts at 12:00. Ticket price – 150 hryvnia.
