Saint-Dié Volley-Ball, known as “the Wolves,” capped off an unusual 2024-2025 season with a decisive victory over Valenciennes, securing their promotion to the prestigious Ligue saforelle Power 6. The team’s dominant performance, marked by an undefeated league record, culminated in a 3-0 victory (30-28, 27-25, 25-17) in front of a record crowd at the Joseph-Claudel Omnisports Palace.

This promotion marks a meaningful milestone for Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, as it will be the first time a sports team from the city will compete in a professional championship. The team’s success reflects the growing popularity of volleyball in France, where participation has seen a steady increase in recent years. According to the French Volleyball Federation,registered players have increased by 15% over the past five years,highlighting the sport’s expanding reach and appeal.

Their invincible run in the league was complemented by a second consecutive Federal French Cup victory, showcasing their dominance in the sport at this level. Farewell to a Legend: Julie Mollinger Transitions to Coaching Role

Following the match and a jersey auction, the evening transitioned into a celebration of Julie Mollinger’s career. At 35,Mollinger is retiring from competitive play but will remain with Saint-dié Volley-Ball as the team’s new coach. Her contributions to the team have been immense, and her leadership will be invaluable as they navigate the challenges of the Ligue Saforelle Power 6.

In recognition of her dedication and service to the city, Mayor Bruno Toussaint presented Mollinger with the city medal, a testament to her impact both on and off the court.
