UW Pharmacist’s Heart Disease Story | American Heart Month

by Archynetys Health Desk

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Friday is National Wear Red Day, a campaign part of American Heart Month in February.

The American Heart Association asks you to wear red to raise awareness about heart disease, particularly in women.

Annemae Minichiello, a pharmacist with UW Health who shares a personal connection to this topic, visited WMTV on Thursday to talk more about this campaign.

Shortly after she delivered her first daughter, she suffered a rare type of heart failure. She never had any prior cardiovascular issues.

Now, she’s on mission to raise awareness. She said she’s looking forward to seeing her loved ones and friends wearing red on Friday.

“It’s going to be a really fun, exciting day to spread awareness for this wonderful cause,” said Minichiello.
