According to reports, Senator Padilla attempted to ask a question during a press conference held by Kristi Noem. Video footage shows Senator Padilla being escorted out of the room by two individuals, followed by an FBI agent and police officers who placed him in handcuffs. A photo of Senator Padilla allegedly lying on the ground, taken by his staff, has been circulating online.

Senator Padilla’s office released a statement confirming his release and detailing the events. “Senator Padilla is currently in Los Angeles, where he performs his obligation to supervise the congress over the activities of the Federal Government in Los Angeles and in all California.He was in a federal building to receive a report from General Guillot (head of the US Northern Command) and listened to the press conference secretary Noem. He tried to ask the secretary, then Forcibly removed by federal agents, knocked down and handcuffed. Currently, he is not detained and we are working on obtaining additional data,” the statement read.

Kristi Noem Responds to Senator’s Removal

kristi Noem addressed the incident during a conference concerning reactions to riots in Los Angeles.

“I think everyone in America will agree that This is not the right behavior. That if you wont to have a cultural discussion, especially as a leader, a public official, then you should reach out and try to talk,” she stated, adding that she would later meet with the Democratic politician privately.

“This is not something that democracies do.”

Democrats Condemn Actions as “shameful Abuse of Power”

The incident has drawn strong criticism from Senator Padilla’s Democratic colleagues.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer stated, “This is not something that democracies do. Senator Padilla was legally in this building, to ask questions about what is happening in California, which everyone wants to no the answers. (…) and instead He was beaten, thrown out of the room, thrown to the ground and shackled with handcuffs. We need immediate fully investigating what happened.”

Schumer added, “This is vile. This is repulsive. This is uname -American.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom described the police action as “dictatorial” and shameful. “Trump and his assault troops They are out of control,” Newsom wrote. “If they can score the US Senator with the question, Imagine what they will do to you.”

Former Vice President kamala Harris also commented, stating, “United States Senator alex Padilla represented millions of Californians who demand a response in connection with the actions of this governance in southern California. It is indeed shameful and shocking abuse of power.”
