This scholarship program is an annual award for high school students in the Long Beach area who want to pursue a career in international trade, freight transportation, or other port-related industries, ranging from $500 to $5,000.
The scholarship selection committee will allocate the amount based on the specific circumstances of each applicant. Students are required to provide proof of acceptance and enrolment from the trade program, college or university they are working on before the scholarship is awarded. The foundation that administers the scholarship will wire the scholarship check directly to the school of the applicant’s choice.
Applicants for the Port of Long Beach Scholarship must be a public or private high school student within the service area of the Long Beach Unified School District with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5. Applicants are enrolled in part-time or full-time study at an accredited college, university, community/junior college, or career/technical program in fall 2022.
In addition to this, applicants must plan to major in a field related to international trade, cargo transportation or other port-related industries. These industries include, but are not limited to: International Business, Maritime Law, Global Logistics, Engineering, Environmental Science and projects such as welding, cleaning trucks, electrical trading, etc. .

The application deadline for the Port of Long Beach Scholarship Program is March 1, and no applications will be accepted after the deadline. ◇
