UFC 249, the next major event in mixed martial arts (MMA), organized by the all-powerful MMA league the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), will take place on May 9 in Jacksonville (Southeast United States) ), announced the UFC. The fights, including that of the Cameroonian Francis Ngannou against Jairzinho Rozenstruik, will be fought without spectators, in Florida, one of the few states to allow professional sports competitions. UFC 249 was originally scheduled to take place on April 18 in New York City with the Khabib Nurmagomedov-Tony Ferguson bout as a poster. But Nurmagomedov decided to stay in Russia and the other fighting was postponed because of the Covid-19.
