Uber Ireland has released its annual “Naughty and Nice” list, highlighting the nicest and naughtiest areas based on passenger behavior during rides. Criteria for Naughtiness and Niceness

The ‘Naughty List’ includes passengers who exhibit rudeness, aggression, eating in cars, slamming doors, not wearing seatbelts, and even requesting to smoke or vape in the vehicle. Conversely, the ‘Nice List’ recognizes communities where passengers show respect, are prepared for pick-up, and demonstrate general good behavior.

Top Nicest Areas

New to the top of the ‘Nice List’ is Waterford City, owing to its consistently cheerful passengers. Castletroy in Limerick retains its second-place position for the second consecutive year. Blanchardstown, Dublin, has made a significant leap, jumping seven places to third place this year.

Other entries in the top ten include Sligo Town, Balbriggan, Douglas in Cork, Oranmore, Dooradoyle, Dalkey, and Castleknock. All these areas have demonstrated a notable level of courtesy and respect towards drivers.

Stoneybatter in north Dublin leads the ‘Naughty List’, followed closely by Salthill in Galway. Other areas rounding out the top five include Maynooth in Kildare and Rathmines in south Dublin. These neighborhoods have seen instances of poor behavior from passengers, affecting the overall driving experience.

Uber’s Initiative

Mohammed Mrabat, a taxi driver in Dublin, offered his insights into the impact of passenger behavior. He noted that while most passengers are enjoyable to transport, minor gestures like being prompt and respectful can greatly enhance the experience.

“What surprises many is how well-organized Uber is in Ireland, but on a more serious note, it’s disheartening to occasionally witness bias or assumptions based on a driver’s name,” Mrabat commented. He encouraged using the festive season to spread kindness and inclusivity within the community.
