According to Ushakov, the conversation between Putin and Trump took place at the initiative of the American side and lasted one hour and 15 minutes.
“Putin and Trump have generally similar views that the temporary truce will only prolong the conflict in Ukraine,” said Ushakov, commenting on the conversation between the leaders of Russia and the United States.
Putin allegedly told Trump that in order to finally end hostilities, Kyiv should immediately make a decision on Donbas, taking into account the development of the situation on the front lines.
According to Ushakov, Trump has said that he is sure of Russia’s desire for a political and diplomatic solution to the situation. The two leaders also exchanged several polite phrases. Trump spoke about the impressive prospects for economic cooperation between the United States and Russia if the conflict in Ukraine ends. The two leaders also exchanged New Year greetings and wishes for happiness.
According to Ushakov, after today’s meeting between the US President and Zelensky, Putin and Trump will call again.
