Pokémon GO and the European Space Agency have launched a joint promotion that gives players the chance to earn a limited‑edition Astronaut Pikachu avatar. The move also aims to boost in‑app engagement ahead of the upcoming seasonal update.

The Astronaut Pikachu draws on a real‑world mission: Pikachu spent 67 days aboard the International Space Station, a fact highlighted by Popular Science and DOGO News. IMDb reports a new line of merchandise celebrating the interstellar mascot, and Pokémon.com framed the collaboration as a celebration of the agency’s outreach efforts during the week.

Players can unlock the avatar by completing the event tasks outlined by Pokémon GO, with the offer remaining active only for the duration of World Space Week, according to Space. The token is no longer available after the window closes, making the race for the character a short‑term opportunity for trainers worldwide.
