The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated catcher Will Smith, catcher Dalton Rushing, and pitcher Justin Wrobleski from the injured list. The team also designated catcher Ben Rortvedt for assignment. The moves come as rosters expand for September, allowing the Dodgers to bolster their lineup ahead of a crucial series against the St. The roster changes were driven by the need to strengthen the team's depth and address injuries. Smith, Rushing, and Wrobleski have been sidelined, and their return provides a significant boost to the Dodgers' roster. Smith, in particular, is noted for his crucial role in the team's success.

The designation of Rortvedt for assignment suggests a strategic shift in the Dodgers' roster management, possibly to make room for other players or to explore trade options. The reporting on these moves is consistent across multiple outlets, with a focus on the impact of Smith's return and the uncertainty surrounding Shohei Ohtani's pitching status. However, the specifics of Rortvedt's designation and the Dodgers' future plans for him are not detailed. The Sporting Tribune, CBS Sports, and RotoWire mention Rortvedt's designation but do not provide further context. The Los Angeles Times and Yahoo Sports emphasize the activation of Smith and Rushing, highlighting their importance to the team's September push. The Dodgers have also called up Alex Freeland, adding another layer to their roster adjustments.

The team's manager, Dave Roberts, expressed gratitude to Rortvedt for his time with the Dodgers, indicating a respectful parting. The activation of Smith, Rushing, and Wrobleski, along with the call-up of Freeland, positions the Dodgers to compete strongly in the upcoming series against the Cardinals. The status of Shohei Ohtani remains uncertain. Coverage from the Idaho State Journal, KBAK, and FOX Sports mentions Ohtani's pitching outlook but does not provide concrete details. The Dodgers' next steps regarding Ohtani and the full impact of these roster moves on the team's performance will be closely watched.
