The footage, posted by a Kuala Lumpur‑based photojournalist, quickly went viral, prompting outrage not only in Nepal but also among the 55 Malaysians reported missing in the disaster. The timing of the clip’s release amplified grief already felt by families and relief workers.

The episode raises questions about how relief operations will safeguard victims’ remains and personal effects amid ongoing floods. Officials have not disclosed whether additional arrests are pending or what penalties the two suspects face.
