Lincoln Is Building the New Corsair in China and Shipping it to the US

Lincoln will build the 2027 Corsair Hybrid in China and ship the finished vehicles to the United States, a shift that flips the model’s previous cancellation into a new production plan. The decision gives Ford’s luxury brand a manufacturing foothold overseas while promising U.S. buyers a refreshed SUV that had been described as dead months earlier. The Detroit News reported that Ford has opened orders for the 2027 Corsair Hybrid directly from its Chinese facility, and CarBuzz framed the move as the brand’s boldest shift in the segment. The Drive highlighted the logistics of shipping the Chinese‑built SUVs to U.S. dealerships. The production change positions Lincoln to benefit from lower manufacturing costs and a faster rollout, while U.S. dealers and customers gain access to a hybrid‑powered crossover that re‑enters the market.

Domestic auto workers could see reduced assembly volumes as final‑stage work shifts to the overseas plant. Ford plans to begin shipments later this year, and the next update is expected to detail delivery schedules and pricing as orders accumulate.
