Indonesia Gelap Protests Set for February 2025
The All-Indonesia Student Association (BEM SI) is mobilizing a movement called Indonesia Gelap (Dark Indonesia), scheduled to take place from February 17 to February 19, 2025. This series of demonstrations aims to demand accountability from the government regarding policies introduced by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in their initial 100 days of office.
The protests, which will be conducted in several regions including Jakarta, Bandung, Lampung, Surabaya, Malang, Samarinda, Banjarmasin, Aceh, and Bali, will culminate in a grand demonstration on February 20, 2025. The primary focus will be on the impact of these policies, particularly in the education and welfare sectors affecting academics.

President Prabowo Orders Stable Food Prices Ahead of Ramadan
Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas), Arief Prasetyo Adi, reported that President Prabowo Subianto has instructed his team to ensure food prices remain stable before Ramadan. According to Arief, food prices must not increase except for harvested dry paddy at the farmer level.
“Prices for farmers and breeders must also be adequate. The government strives to maintain these prices continuously through the approaching national religious holidays,” Arief stated in an official press release on February 17, 2025.
