Today distribution 1,000 emergency aid packages in Rainville

More than 1,000 families in the Rainville resort may qualify for a government emergency aid package. Today, Monday 28 June, the emergency aid packages will be distributed in the resort. The various government departments in charge of distribution will be in the area from 8 a.m. and hand out the packages throughout the day.

The distribution that is part of the ‘National Distribution of Emergency Aid Packages’ project is a joint operation of the Unity Bureau of the Office of the President, the district commissioners, district and district councils, the National Army and other support services. The Ministries of Social Affairs and Housing, Regional Development and Sport (ROS) and Defense make an important contribution to the success of the project.

The project is coordinated by the Unity Bureau. The intention is to provide a support package to people who have been affected in one way or another by flooding and or the COVID-19 pandemic and are therefore struggling to meet their immediate needs. Exceptions are also made for people who are having a hard time due to other social reasons. Eligible people must pre-register through their resort’s RR and DR members.

This national project has been going on for a month. The districts of Coronie, Nickerie and part of Wanica have already been visited. Distribution has started in Paramaribo since last Friday, in the Welgelegen resort. Rainville will follow on Monday, Center resort on Wednesday, Livorno on Friday and Flora on Sunday. The other jurisdictions will follow in the following weeks. It will be announced which neighborhoods will follow on the Facebook page of the Communication Service Suriname.

The packages are distributed by military personnel, RR and DR members, members of Bureau Eenheid and the administrative services. The organization asks society to stay at home due to the Covid-19 measures and not to approach the trucks of the National Army.

The emergency aid packages are delivered to your home. Those who have registered to be eligible for an emergency package may receive their package with their ID card. Registrants who will not be at home may leave their ID card behind for a roommate.

If during the distribution it appears that there have been mistakes in the registration, these will be made up for by registering people after all. The organization wants an orderly course during the distribution.
