Three bell concerts from the Red Tower this weekend – you are Halle

This weekend the carillon will be playing three concerts in the Red Tower in Halle (Saale). Free bell concerts can be enjoyed on Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and on Sundays at 4 p.m.

Musician Ariane Toffel will perform on Saturday, May 14, 2022 as part of the Women in Jazz festival. The musicologist is a city bell player in Aschaffenburg and a city carillonneur in Bonn-Bad Godesberg and Bonn-Beuel. She has played over 70 carillons in Europe to date. The market day carillon concert begins at 11am. The program features 17 mostly jazz-typical pieces. The second concert at 4 p.m. with a similar program will be broadcast live from the Carillonneurskammer on an LED wall at the foot of the Red Tower. The title announcement and moderation takes place directly from the carillon.

Chairs are set up for visitors in front of the Red Tower. After both concerts, at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m., the City Museum offers special tours in the Red Tower with a visit to the carillon. Admission is 6 euros, concessions 4 euros.

On Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 4 p.m., Johannes Langenhagen, one of the “Halle Carillonneurs”, will play a 20-minute program on Europe’s largest carillon with 76 bells in the Red Tower.
