This toddler buys ice cream worth Rp. 37 million with his mother’s Amazon account – News of a four-year-old boy named Noah who bought the SpongeBob SquarePants character ice cream worth US $ 2,618.85, or around Rp.37 million, went viral on social media.

According to family information, the toddler ordered 51 packs or about 918 pieces of SpongeBob SquarePants ice cream to his aunt’s house which is located in Brooklyn, New York, United States.

Noah is known to have ordered nearly a thousand of those ice creams through the Amazon e-commerce.

Quoting the Daily Mail, (4/5/2021), a pack of SpongeBob SquarePants ice cream contains 18 pieces of ice cream.

While the price of one pack is worth US $ 51.35, or around Rp. 728,415 on Amazon, not including shipping costs.

Mother raises funds

Knowing that her son had taken “extreme” actions, Noah’s mother, Jennifer Bryant, conducted a fundraising job because she was unable to pay for her son’s order.

A relative named Katie Schloss uploaded the incident on her Instagram account.

“As adorable as this story may be, Jennifer Bryant, Noah’s mother, was a student social worker at New York University (we took Policy I together) and couldn’t afford it,” Schloss wrote in the post.

Amazon’s response

According to the post, Amazon confirmed that its stock was running low as Noah bought it up.

However, Amazon also refused to return the ice cream that Noah had ordered.

This means that Bryant is required to pay the entire bill.

“Ms Bryant, mother of 3 boys, doesn’t know how she can afford this,” Schloss wrote.

He also wrote that Bryant had sought to borrow money from student loans and other family members.

To help his friend, Schloss also created a donation page called GoFoundMe.

After opening the fundraiser, the donations collected were more than US $ 3,700 or around Rp. 52.48 million for Mrs. Noah at GoFoundMe.

“Thank you so much for your generosity and extraordinary support,” Bryant wrote of the fundraising.
