The permanent committee ofState School CouncilIt has rejected this Tuesday the proposal to suppress the repetitions of this course as an “exceptional” measure in the face of the suspension of face-to-face classes due to the coronavirus pandemic, as reported by Europa Press, sources of this advisory body.
The proposal had been presented by theCANAE State Confederation of Student Associations, and requested “to modify the necessary regulations in an exceptional way so that during this course no student repeats the course”.
However, the permanent committee of the State School Council has given its approval to the recommendation proposed by its president,Enrique Roca, to limit the repetition of this course as something “really extraordinary” in the face of the “special circumstances of the pandemic”.
In total, the education unions, employers’ organizations, mothers’ and fathers’ organizations of students and students had presented almost a hundred amendments to a draft written byCatholic Schoolsand technicians of the Council that this Tuesday will be put to the vote. The approved document finally includes some of these proposals, which will be sent to theMinistry of Education and Vocational Training, although they are not binding.
The ministry led by Isabel Cela will receive these suggestions before the telematic meeting of theGeneral Commission of Educationthat this Wednesday will be chaired by the Secretary of State for Education,Alejandro Tiana, and in which the vice-councilors of all the autonomous communities will participate.
This meeting precedes a new meeting of the Sectorial Conference on Education, with the Minister Isabel Cela and the regional officials, next Wednesday, April 15, where they will jointly address the closure of the school year and the options to evaluate students this year if containment measures are prolonged to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
Among the recommendations made by the State School Council is not to extend the academic calendar during the month of July. The permanent committee has rejected this possibility, and chooses to rush June to conclude the 2019-2020 academic year.
The advisory body that includes representatives of the entire educational community has also rejected the union’s proposalCSIFso that the university entrance exams, the oldSelectivity, have a unique date in the whole of Spain.
The Ministry of Education and the autonomous communities agreed two weeks ago to celebrate the so-calledBaccalaureate Test for University Access(EBAU) between June 22 and July 10, after postponing the test after the declaration of the state of alarm. Most communities, moreover, have already established the testing schedule.
The State School Board also recommends that the tasks that students are doing at home during confinement be evaluable, although an amendment submitted byCCOOto take into account the “technological and connectivity conditions” in the homes of each student, so that the “digital divide” is not a reason for “the negative evaluation of learning and skills”.
