ANALYSIS –Saint-Gobain, Stellites, Schneider and Legrand are benefiting from the outlook for a rebound in growth.

French industry was said to be moribund, doomed in the face of the irresistible rise of competitors from low-cost countries. The markets saw technology sweeping everything in its path. Today, investors are changing their minds and rediscovering the qualities of these companies.

On the stock market, since the beginning of the year, the industrial flagships of the CAC 40 have been a real hit. Saint-Gobain has won over 55% and has been sailing to new heights for more than ten years. The former royal manufactory is far from being an isolated case. Arcelor Mittal posted an increase of almost 45%. Stellantis, the group born from the merger between Peugeot and Fiat Chrysler, climbs more than 38% in 2021. Air Liquide, Michelin, Legrand and Schneider Electric are all at historic highs. Airbus, crushed by the health crisis, is also finding favor with investors, while its order book is filling up at top speed.
