Participate in the educational debate
76% of young people and 75% of parents consider that they are not sufficiently involved in making major educational decisions in France (barometer Youth & Confidence OpinionWay 2019). An observation that prompted FreshLeHaut, the think tank dedicated to young people and education, and 60 educational actors from all walks of life, to be launched in 2019 at the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) States General of Education.
This unprecedented approach has brought together citizens and actors in the field throughout the region to build concrete proposals together in education on 7 major educational challenges : The Education Charter, Is there only one way to be successful in school?, Who should decide in education?, How to revalue the professions of teacher and educator?, How can we help the most vulnerable young people to get off to a good start in life?, How to help parents exercise their role?, The world is changing, and education?, What education do we want for our children between 0 and 6 years old?.
7 stages in the territories
At each meeting city, meetings were organized participatory workshops and an co-construction day in order to bring together different stakeholders (citizens, professionals, State and local communities, businesses and unions). Of free public evenings and open to all also enabled personalities from the world of education to exchange views with the general public, to propose ideas and to talk about innovative initiatives.
In parallel, a online participation platform gave all citizens the opportunity to make proposals on the 7 educational challenges and to highlight local initiatives.
