Christian Estrosi’s decision to impose the wearing of a mask in part of the city center was validated this Wednesday evening by the administrative justice. The LR mayor of Nice immediately won a second symbolic victory: the prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes himself took, this Wednesday evening, a
stopped imposing the wearing of the mask in Nice and in seven other municipalities of the department.
As early as last week, Christian Estrosi had asked Bernard Gonzalez to take this type of order. The prefect complied: his decree “takes over” from the municipal decree which entered into force on Monday.
135 euros fine for non-compliance
Wearing a mask is now compulsory in the city centers of Nice, Menton, Biot, La Gaude, Mougins, Saint-Cézaire-sur-Siagne, Saint-Laurent-du-Var and Vence. Children under 11 and disabled people with a medical certificate are not affected.
Offenders risk a fine of 135 euros.
