The Liga MX has faced various challenges in the Opening 2023from changes in schedules, fields in poor condition, to changes to the calendar due to the Leagues Cup. Now, a new factor is added that could complicate the panorama even more: the concerts of Luis Miguel.
The problem with concerts in football stadiums
Historically, concerts in soccer stadiums in Mexico have represented a challenge for turf maintenance. The infrastructure necessary to put on a show of such magnitude, added to the traffic of thousands of people, can seriously damage the pitch. In the Apertura 2023, two games have already had to be modified in date, time and even venue due to the poor condition of the courts after musical events.
Luis Miguel’s tour and his coincidence with Liga MX
Luis Miguel, known as “El Sol de México”, is scheduled to tour Mexico later this year, and several of his concerts will take place in stadiums where Liga MX matches are played. This situation has set off the alarms, since there is a risk that, as happened in the La Corregidora Stadium and the Jalisco Stadium, the courts will be damaged after the singer’s recitals.
In addition, there is concern about possible scheduling conflicts. For example, the Final Phase of the Apertura 2023 begins on November 22, and the Quarterfinals are scheduled for November 29 and 30. Precisely on November 30, Luis Miguel has a concert at the La Corregidora Stadium in Querétaro. Another point of conflict is December 17, the date on which the singer will perform at the Jalisco Stadium, the same day that the return of the Final would be played.
Stadiums and concert dates of Luis Miguel:
La Corregidora Stadium, Querétaro: November 30.
Victoria Stadium, Aguascalientes: December 2.
Alfonso Lastras Stadium, San Luis Potosí: December 4.
Cuauhtémoc Stadium, Puebla: December 5.
Jalisco Stadium, Guadalajara: December 17.
