With 34.2 degrees in Maastricht, Friday is the hottest day of the year so far, Weerplaza reports. This has broken a local heat record.
When the temperature in De Bilt rises to at least 32.4 degrees, there is also a new national heat record.
The temperature is expected to rise to over 30 degrees in many places in the Netherlands on Friday, with a chance of temperatures reaching 36 degrees in the south.
It also stays warm in the evening, with temperatures between 24 and 30 degrees in the evening. The minimums in the outer areas are around 17 degrees, but in cities the temperature can remain above 20 degrees.
On Saturday sweltering, temperatures drop on Sunday
After a tropical night, there will be more clouds on Saturday from which showers can fall here and there, with a local risk of thunder. It feels sweltering all Saturday and it gets between 24 degrees in the west and 32 degrees in the east.
From Sunday, temperatures will drop back to around 23 degrees in the west to 26 degrees inland, with a mix of sun, cloud fields and rain.
