The hunt for partial unemployment fraudsters has indeed started! Some two months after the end of confinement, the Ministry of Labor, which for several weeks encouraged companies to use this device to maintain employment, is now stepping up checks to identify abuses. As Muriel Pénicaud announced, the logic of “Trust a priori” has given way to that of «A posteriori control».

At the very beginning of the crisis, the Minister of Labor relaxed the rules to be able to benefit from them, making their use particularly easy. Result: 13.6 million French people were affected by a request for partial unemployment by a little more than a million companies. The issue of verifications is therefore crucial. Especially since the provisional cost of the device, after having estimated 8.5 and then 26 billion euros, is now evaluated at 31 billion in the amending finance bill being examined in the Assembly.
