On November 9, 2022, a new giant salamander came to the park from Asa Zoological Park in Hiroshima City.

At the Inokashira Nature and Culture Park, the exhibition has been discontinued since the death of the giant salamander that was kept in the Aquatic Life Museum of the Aquatic Garden (branch) in July 2021, but a new individual has come to the park. did.

The giant salamander is the world’s largest amphibian, distributed in Honshu, Shikoku, and Oita prefectures west of Gifu prefecture.

The individual that visited the zoo is a female that was hatched at Asa Zoological Park in 2022 and is now 10 years old. Until they get accustomed to the current exhibition facility, they are bred with some lights turned off.
